Hedgehog & Thistle
Created end of 2019, the company has several activities: on one hand, regulatory advice in labelling and food safety, and on the other, the production, processing and direct sale of cereal and oilseed products. It is based on the family farm, which is located in the Loire Valley and which I converted entirely to Organic Farming when I started farming it.
I am a trained food technologist with seventeen years of professional experience, including a dozen acquired in the United Kingdom as Quality Manager in the food industry. I started my career in Scotland, from which I draw my inspiration for this project. Hence the thistle, emblem of Scotland and the hedgehog, which symbolizes sustainable development. I defend crofting.
Production
We are certified organic farming on 100% of cultivated areas. We are already producing buckwheat, oats, sunflower and corn.
Transformation
We already make buckwheat flour, muesli and sunflower oil. We also plan to develop our own rolled oats, as well as popcorn corn.
Marketing
We market in direct sale via the online store and locally with the AMAPs of Mesland and Orchaise. Free delivery in Loir-et-Cher. On-site pick-up possible by appointment.
